Volunteer with CUSD!
-
The safety of our CUSD students is of great concern to us. To ensure school safety, we have chosen to take various precautions to protect our students.
CUSD recommends submitting applications at least four (4) to six (6) weeks prior to any event or activity you would like to support. This timeframe is suggested on the delivery of DPS approval of a fingerprint clearance - please plan accordingly.
Our Procedures
-
Application
The CUSD Volunteer Application form must be completed in full before submitting it to site personnel. The attached application can be downloaded and filled out on your computer before printing off to sign.
Once completed, the applicant will need to bring in the completed and signed documents to the site personnel (take to the site you wish to volunteer at).
-
Screening Process
Site personnel will complete the first level of approval (School Site Office Use Only) and reference checks before turning it over to HR for final approval.
-
HR Contact & Finger Print Clearance
Once HR receives the application, you will be contacted at the email and/or phone number listed on the application to schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.
All volunteers have to be fingerprinted before being on school sites.
Fingerprinting
CUSD processes fingerprinting with the Department of Public Safety (DPS), which has a processing fee of $20.00. This fee is only payable by money order or cashier check - volunteers must pay for this fee.
If fingerprints are completed with CUSD, the application and fingerprints will be considered valid for up to four (4) years from the date of fingerprinting.
Valid AZDPS Issued Fingerprint Clearance Card
If the applicant holds a valid AZDPS-issued fingerprint clearance card, a printed front and back copy of the card should be attached to the application before forwarding it to HR.
A valid AZDPS-issued fingerprint clearance card and application will be considered valid for six (6) years from the date of fingerprinting.
CUSD has the right to re-fingerprint a volunteer at any time.
-
Approval
Upon receipt of fingerprint clearance, site personnel will be notified of applicant approval.
-
Red Badge
Volunteers who are noted as Red Badge will only be allowed to volunteer in their student's classrooms.
They will not/cannot be asked to accompany other students out of the classroom and/or be left alone with other students in the absence of the teacher.
Red Badge volunteers may be allowed to accompany their student(s) on field trips at the Principal's discretion and at their own expense, they will not be placed in unsupervised situations with other students and must provide their own transportation.
-
Report for Duty!
CUSD welcomes all volunteers to our team and we appreciate those who wish to take part with the District!
All volunteers will/must be supervised by a CUSD Employee at all times.
