Welcome to the Exceptional Student Services Department

The Exceptional Student Services mission is to work with educators and parents to ensure that every student learns in a supportive and healthy environment. The department will identify and assess the learning and development needs of individuals, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. The Coolidge Unified School District Exceptional Student Services will provide the opportunity to mentor, model, and educate with care, commitment and purpose.

Mr. Aaron Porianda
Aaron Porianda was born and raised in Glendale, Arizona, and attended school within the Peoria Unified School District. Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Porianda attended California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2000. He then attended California State University, Northridge, and obtained a Master of Science degree in School Psychology in 2003. Mr. Porianda worked as a school psychologist for 16 years and has the opportunity to serve students within the Oxnard School District, the Kyrene School District, and the Coolidge Unified School District. As a school psychologist, Mr. Porianda was able to assist in the academic and behavioral development of students in both the general and special education programs and strengthen student social and emotional wellbeing through community outreach and collaboration with community agencies.

Parent Notice
All families who fall within the Coolidge Unified School District boundaries have the right to special education services that are available for students with disabilities aged 3 through 21 years. In addition, the District has a responsibility to provide information regarding early intervention services for children from birth through 3 years of age.
Identifying, locating, and evaluating all children with disabilities including children aged 3 through 21, and referring children from birth through 3 years of age to the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP) for evaluation and appropriate services.
